Lancaster University Art Society
We are a society that is mainly concerned with making friends, socialising,
having a good time and using art as a form of relaxing after a hard days
’studying’. If you a looking for a friendly society to join, but feel you do not
have the right requirements for certain societies then maybe Art Soc is the
society for you. To join Art Soc, you don’t have to be an art student. You don’t
even have to be able to draw! The point is to come along and have a good time.
Though of course for those of you who are serious about art, we do try to
structure our workshops so that we cater for every ability.
The Art Soc society meet every Thursday evening at 6pm in either Bowland
Annexe or Bowland North Seminar Room 6. (If you require any extra help getting
to these rooms don’t hesitate to email us: artsoc@live.co.uk).The workshops
usually last from 1-2 hours. We cater for a range of abilities, so don’t worry,
being a professional artist is in no way a requirement! The majority of our
members basically enjoy art as a hobby and social activity. Our activities vary
from week to week, from sculpture to international forms of art, and tie dying
t-shirts to paper making! We also try to run a couple of life drawing sessions
each term.
On average we have around 2-3 socials per term, organised by the Social Sec.
These usually have some sort of reference to art but we mainly concentrate on
having a good time! We charge £5 a term or £10 per year to join, but, unlike
many other societies, all materials will be provided for you, so there won’t be
any extra costs later in the term. Hope to see you at the next session! Regards,
The Art Soc Exec Team
