Mario was born in Ventimiglia, Italy, close to the border with France.  The home of many great artists and an obvious influence on his use of colour and light.  Like many good watercolourists Mario perceives each subject with exceptional detail and then allows the minimum amount of paint and brush strokes to depict this image, in many ways similar to Sir William Russell Flint’s paintings of Venice and the surrounding countryside.

Living locally, Mario has the Lake District, the historic city of Lancaster and the whole of the Morecambe Bay area as immediate inspiration, and with occasional visits back to Italy you can be sure that he will continue to produce a wide variety of paintings, all to the same exacting standards.
